Monocrystalline silicon wafers are also widely used in the semiconductor industry to manufacture electronic components, such as integrated circuits, transistors, and diodes.
To produce monocrystalline silicon wafers for semiconductors, a similar process is used as for solar cells. The silicon is purified using the Czochralski process, and a single crystal is grown from a seed crystal in a high-temperature environment. However, the resulting wafers are much thinner, typically between 100 and 200 micrometers thick.
